João Maurício Mercado Ramos was born in the city of La Paz, Bolivia in 1983, he arrived in Brazil, in the city of Salvador, in the late 90's, without speaking any Portuguese, he faced a lot of prejudice right away, but quickly, with a dazzling ability to adapt, he managed to be fluent in Portuguese in a short time, as well as in the popular Bahian language. Self-taught, he learned to play Guitar, Bass, Keyboard, Clarinet, Saxophone, Sampoña, Quena, Harmonica, Drums, among others. Also self-taught, he studied Web Design, 3d Modeling and Animation, Video Creation and Editing, Professional Photography, Computer Maintenance, Notebooks, Tablets and Cell Phones, Graphic Design and Digital Marketing. In 2015, he made a trip through South America and Europe, passing through more than 20 countries, working in the Merchant Navy. based on the results of his research that today he composes his songs for the Banda O Barro that he founded, as a way to bring messages of peace, equality, love and joy around the world.
His Brazilian musicality and bold interpretations won, in addition to a loyal audience, the praise of critics. As an interpreter, Erick worked with the groups Cesta Básica (PB), Mercedes Band (CE) and Grupo Etc and Tal (AL), already with the groups Sine Qua Non (PB) and Zaraquê Trio (RN) recorded albums where he also acted as composer.
