History
Registered by the Institute of Artistic and Cultural Heritage of Bahia (IPAC – BA) on March 21, 2005, the cultural superintendent, SôniaBastos , representing the secretary of Culture and Tourism, Paulo Gaudenzi , was present at the registration that took place at the terreiro's headquarters. and Júlio Braga, general director of IPAC-BA.
Since 1986, he has been developing numerous social projects at the Fundação do Centro Comunitário Recreativo e Beneficente Ajagunã . The terreiro's social activities are carried out in partnership with the three governmental spheres and involve programs such as PETI – Child Labor Eradication Program and FAT – Worker's Support Fund. In addition, in partnership with the Bahia state health department, it develops family planning programs with the local community.
At first Pai Aristides hesitated to become Babalorixá because he knew of the enormous responsibilities that the representative of the Ketu presence in Bahia would have, through the cult of the orixá Ajagunã , the name given to the younger Oxalá in the Candomblé rituals.
