The Bambolê Project directed by its founder Antêmio da Luz de Jesus, Master of Popular Culture. The Bambolê Cultural Group is recognized as Cultural and Intangible Heritage by Lauro de Freitas and brings together theater, dance, circus art and the rescue of popular culture, in a dynamic process of recovering the cultural past in integration with the possibilities that the present presents to us, building a solid foundation for the future that awaits us.

This project is now a reference throughout Bahia for its success in working art and culture in our vulnerable community. We live in our community where it has it all. Today, every society sees the problems arising from trafficking spreading, which often invites young people to the illusion of a short and adventurous life. Our community is black and at risk whose alternatives are scarce, with increasingly limited possibilities, due to the lack of local development. Artêmio understands that “it is necessary to get our hands dirty and bring alternatives for our young people”, and Babolê manages to do that.

The origin of hula hoop dates back to the time when Artemio was still dating his wife. Arriving in Vila Praiana, where he found Mestre Luciano's Grupo de Capoeira Raça Negra da Bahia, which worked on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in an old school that had classes by day and cultural activities at night. He noted that the children were very idle and suggested the creation of a theater group that was named hula hoop because the hula hoop toy requires balance and persistence for the child, used together with the expression “scales more does not fall”.

They staged a first play “O Sertão”, then the play “Sou Gari e Daí?” which gave visibility and growth to the group. So growing the interested audience, which worked Tuesday, we included Thursday, Saturday and Monday, four times a week. We include and the rescue of popular culture and the circus arts with juggling, fabrics, wooden legs and unicycle). These practical activities are always working with cultural concepts of tradition, manifestation, rescue while transversely dealing with citizenship, counseling, empowerment, employability.

He says that today the hula hoop colors the avenue in Salvador's carnival when he parades in Fusuê.

Today, more than five thousand people have gone through the Babolê Project. We now have a hundred components, activities every Saturday the afternoon, divided into the sport we offer, in our temporary headquarters that works on the premises of the Municipal School of Vila Praiana, the so - called "educational territory room" where is saved all material manufacturing own (wooden legs, unicycles, juggling), a small museum is maintained, a small library, and the interested party is only required to confirm that he/she is studying.

Founded on 02/15/2000, Artêmio gets emotional when he sees the works advancing; see that many project participants today use the skills developed here to work as a teacher in schools, theaters, as party entertainers, etc. “Contributing to the professionalization of a person, to the formation of their character is very important. Priceless".

His Brazilian musicality and bold interpretations won, in addition to a loyal audience, the praise of critics. As an interpreter, Erick worked with the groups Cesta Básica (PB), Mercedes Band (CE) and Grupo Etc and Tal (AL), already with the groups Sine Qua Non (PB) and Zaraquê Trio (RN) recorded albums where he also acted as composer.
