The Gigante Negro is non-partisan and aims to unite all who make culture in the city of Lauro de Freitas and the metropolitan region, such as the capoeira community, masters of popular culture, admirers and general public, without distinction of race, color, group and religion.

On February 23, 2020, the Black Giant paraded for the first time in the city of Lauro de Freitas/Ba with the theme: O Levante, 206 years of history, telling the story of the revolt that took place on the Rio Joanes, in the neighborhood of Portão in February 28, 1814.

Where we descended the 2020 carnival with 307 revelers, with the support of friends such as: Maria do Socorro (Socorro do Gregório), Cristiane Santana, Vanessa Nascimento, Mestre Tonho Matéria and others.

For the next carnival, our theme will be: Angola Janga of all times, I am the master who swings, I am a quilombola, I am a quilombo and resistance. This theme is where we will remember some quilombos in Salvador and RMS, such as Quilombo do Quingoma , Quilombo da Cordoaria, Rio dos Macacos and those that few remember as: Quilombo do Urubu, Quilombo do Cafundé and others.

Today we also have support from people and institutions that believe in our projects, such as: Rede IMA, Lauro de Freitas Carnival Association, Lauro de Freitas Musicians Association, Construindo Saber, Gregório Pinto de Almeida School, É Dez Produções, Pescador Articles para Capoeira, ABPC, Cultural Group of Capoeira Semente da Raça Negra, Colher de Pau Restaurant, Youth of Faith Dance Group, NUPAF/LF, Teresa Beleza Room, Rose Nails and Arts, Rosy Base Fortalecedora, Bimba Videobook , Capoeira Block, Spetto Tattoo, Moving Body in Seniors, Afro Dance, SBJ Eventos, Custom NS, Hoop Theater, ABAM, Jujublack , Novo Corpo Dance Company, AME, MMLPcD , Ana Claudia Nery Well Being Massage, NAC, Mimos da Jell , Acarajé da Ni, JSC Modas, CMPIR, Aconchego do Curumim, & is Xeke , Thay & Theu Dental Consultancy, Yaoundé Dance Company, NBC Accounting, Itinga Resist, Lauro Criativa, Sol de Poesia.
