Poet, composer and writer, he was born in the city of Castro Alves (BA), on February 5, 1940. At the age of 9, he declaimed the poetry Navio Negreiro in the public square by the Nossa Senhora das Graças school, being cheered by the audience. Later, he participated in the IX National Congress of Poetry by the Clube Literário de Brasília, obtaining an honorable mention. He represented the Poeta dos Escravos, Castro Alves, several times in his homeland, always acclaimed for his physical similarity and performance.
He was also awarded, in 1988, when he submitted his poetry to the VIII Raimundo Correia de Poesias Contest promoted by the publisher Shogun Artes in Rio de Janeiro. In the same year, he was featured in the poetic anthology Os Melhores Tales do Brasil by Clube Literário de Brasília. Received an honorable mention in the contest promoted by Golden Music MPB with the song Maísa. In 1989, he was considered highlighted for the publication of one of his poems in the poetic anthology Poetas Brasileiros de Hoje , with the poem Saudades do Meu Pai published in the Revista Brasília de Circulação Nacional. In 1997, it took fifth place in the first festival promoted by ASSUFBA Sindicato, receiving a medal as a poem by Quem Sou? Co-author of the song O Melhor São João da Bahia with Márcio Lima and Del Feliz.
It maintains the Chácara da Poesia project with a sarais presentation in Lauro de Freitas (Ba) and the other project Porridge with Poetry with morning poetry recitations (before the COVID-19 pandemic) on the corner of the End of the Line in Lauro de Freitas, always in company of his great supporter Itana Lima, his wife, storyteller, teacher, master of ceremonies.

His Brazilian musicality and bold interpretations won, in addition to a loyal audience, the praise of critics. As an interpreter, Erick worked with the groups Cesta Básica (PB), Mercedes Band (CE) and Grupo Etc and Tal (AL), already with the groups Sine Qua Non (PB) and Zaraquê Trio (RN) recorded albums where he also acted as composer.
