History

As one of the movements of northeastern culture in Lauro de Freitas in Bahia, the block shows its strength in the joy of revelers for the city's June procession. Each year bringing a varied theme, in its last presentation in June 2019 it had as its theme "the cangaço tells the story of the people of Ipitanguense " honoring the great personalities of Santo Amaro de Ipitanga , before the COVID-19 pandemic cancels the June festivities of Lauro de Freitas for 2020.

The bloc was founded by cultural activist Edivaldo Ferreira, according to him, the junino cangaceiros group has the function of “beautifying” São João de Lauro de Freitas, thus promoting the culture of the northeastern people, in addition to having an identity with Brazilian cangaço as an expression of peace.

The block is focused on symbolizing the group of cangaceiros, who although in their history they are seen as armed vigilante groups against the coronelismo of the sertão, in the block the manifestation is different, in it the history of cangaço is taken to the cultural part.

Solidarity economy

During the preparations, the community is involved in the process, artisans, seamstresses , graffiti artists are used in the manufacture of clothing and accessories and dissemination , as well as sales, decoration and production teams, the Cangaceiros do Ipitanga promotes income generation, a new way to undertake, through the creative economy.
